At BHMY we offer an inclusive activity where children and adults can learn together and perform together. Our aim is to get everyone marching and playing and instrument. Not everyone is of a very high standard but everyone works together to flourish as a group.

EVERYONE can succeed at BHMY.

There IS opportunity for furthering musical ability and talent. There’s opportunity for leadership and developing ideas. There’s opportunity for volunteering and DofE work alongside other skills that are highly valued on college applications and UCAS forms. There’s a sense of belonging; people make lifelong friendships and become part of the family.

At BHMY the most talented are not always the best players or the best marchers or indeed both at the same time!! They’re not always those that have the grades on their instruments. At BHMY we value commitment, honesty, perseverance, teamwork, determination, creativity, responsibility, respect, leadership and discipline as much as we value musicianship and deportment.

BHMY is so much more than just educating children on how to play an instrument and how to march.

Our second big performance of 2018 took place on Saturday. With that over and done with we move on to the next challenges.
4 new bell players to teach.
2 new cymbalists to teach.
1 new clarinettist to teach.
2 new alto sax players to continue to teach.

And on top of that, 1 Cadet cornet player has became a Main Band member.

BHMY said goodbye to Alto Sax player Hannah this evening, after 6 years in the band, she is moving on to new adventures. Good luck with it all Hannah, we will miss you.

We still need more alto sax players. If you or someone you know plays and might be interested, please get in touch.
